Nature-Inspired Wedding in the Heart of the Catskills
I had the pleasure of working with Kat and Patrick to plan their wedding at Full Moon Resort, located in the stunning Hudson Valley/Catskill Mountain Region of New York. Kat, Patrick, and I actually met when they were touring a venue the day I was setting up for a wedding. They were walking through the reception barn and I was sitting on the floor ironing table linens when the owner introduced me to them. They were struggling to find a venue. Patrick walked off with the owner and Kat came up to me and asked about me and what I thought of the venue and asked for any suggestions for venues based on the size of her guest list (200). I offered up some suggestions I thought she might like (while still steaming linens) and she asked what my Instagram was. A few days later, she reached out and we had our consultation call!
Kat’s main struggle with planning her wedding was that she just did not have the time. With such a demanding work schedule as a Graphic Designer at a hospitality company, she got overwhelmed with wedding planning. As we started to work together some more, I started to really get to know Kat and Patrick and what triggered Kat’s stress and anxiety so I learned how to ease her nerves and leave her off certain meetings that I knew would overwhelm her.
Kat and Patrick booked our Full Planning Package so it started with venue hunting! We finally settled on Full Moon Resort, in Big Indian, NY, a perfect location for their large wedding that offered the ability to turn the wedding into a full weekend event. The couple’s vision was to create a natural and organic atmosphere that complemented the serene and picturesque Catskills Mountains, while also incorporating personal touches that made the wedding feel personal.
The wedding ceremony was held outside, surrounded by the breathtaking natural beauty of the region, alongside a quiet stream. Kat looked stunning in a simple yet elegant dress with these amazing emerald green heels that perfectly captured the natural and uncomplicated vibe of the wedding. The arbor was adorned in greenery and fall colors that complemented the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Another special element of Kat and Patrick’s wedding was the incredible photos taken by their talented photographers, Meaghan and Brendon from Far Out Feeling. The photographers took the couple on a journey through the stream in the woods, capturing natural and organic photos that perfectly reflected the couple’s vision for their special day. They captured some absolutely gorgeous shots on their 35 mm camera, adding a unique and timeless feel to the photos. The photos taken by Far Out Feeling were a perfect reflection of the couple’s love and the beauty of the Catskills. They captured the natural light, colors, and textures of the environment, resulting in stunning and unique photos that will be cherished for a lifetime.
One of the most intimate and emotional moments of Kat and Patrick’s wedding day was the private first look. Kat started with a first look with her father on a beautiful bridge in the woods. It was an emotional moment as she revealed her wedding dress to her father for the first time, and they shared a special moment together before the ceremony. IT was such a sweet moment (witnessed from afar).
The reception was held in a beautiful pavilion, with soft lighting and natural wood elements that created a warm and inviting atmosphere. We had the pleasure of working with Jon Bates band who played a mix of classic and contemporary hits that kept everyone on the dance floor all night long.
The wedding’s centerpieces were a beautiful reflection of the forest floor, with natural greenery and organic, homegrown florals that added a touch of elegance to the reception. The tables featured handmade clay vases and napkin rings by the mother-of-the-bride herself, adding a personal touch to the décor.
After dinner, the couple surprised guests with glow sticks and fun costume props, creating a fun and festive atmosphere and was the perfect alternative to a photo booth! The guests danced and threw glow sticks around, creating a magical and unforgettable moment.
Kat and Patrick’s wedding was a beautiful reflection of the region’s natural beauty, and it was a joy to help them create their special day. The Catskills Mountains offer a serene and picturesque backdrop that is perfect for creating a natural and organic wedding.
